Methodology
The Structural Standard
Data governance built for institutional scrutiny.
ShareShift provides financial-grade intelligence derived entirely from verifiable public signals. Our methodology is engineered to withstand the rigorous due diligence of investment committees and risk departments. We do not model based on surveys, estimates, or panel data; we observe the structural ground truth of the internet.
How We Collect
ShareShift Telemetry Engine
7-Day Refresh Standard
Static data is dead data in the subscription economy. The commercial value lies in the delta, the structural change over time. ShareShift maintains a weekly heartbeat across the European digital landscape, processing millions of assets through a strict, proprietary data processing pipeline:
Asset Discovery
We scan zone files and other sources for new inventory across 19 European country-code (ccTLD) domains plus .com.
Non-Intrusive Interrogation
We execute lightweight DNS, HTTP, and TLS handshakes to extract raw technical headers and server responses without impacting target site performance or triggering security blocklists.
State Fingerprinting
We analyse page headers, redirect chains, and code signatures to create a unique footprint for every domain, allowing us to track configuration and content changes over time.
Normalization
The internet is fragmented; we make it sane. We map thousands of name servers and IP addresses to commercial entities and identify deeper usage patterns.
Commercial Enrichment
We layer business logic over technical signals, translating raw data like ‘PHP 7.4’ into risk-weighted metrics like ‘red’ domain health scores.

What We See
Infrastructure Blueprint
Traditional web crawlers index content for lead generation, creating massive databases bloated with dormant domains and endless descriptors. ShareShift was built for financial scrutiny.
The ShareShift engine segments out undeveloped domains, isolating active revenue-generating assets. We extract 100+ data points and interpret them as tech debt or commercial service activation signals that operators can act on, instantly.
We go from “what” to “so what”.
Where We Look
European Focus
The global .com bias blinds traditional crawlers to the reality of the European digital economy.
The real European market operates through millions of local SMEs that trust their local country-code top-level domains. Without deep visibility into the local registry level, you are missing the foundational layer of the market.
We specialize in tracking 55 million+ assets across .de, .uk, .fr, .it, and the long tail of European ccTLDs. By combining this with targeted .com analysis of European-managed portfolios, we provide an uncompromised, high-fidelity map of regional market power that US-centric tools miss entirely.

Institutional Compliance and Ethics
We map infrastructure, not individuals.
Full compliance with GDPR and European data privacy frameworks.
Zero PII
We do not scrape, store, or process Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or individual contact details.
Zero Intrusive Scraping
We do not bypass logins, scrape private content, or breach paywalls.
100% Public Data
Our intelligence is derived 100% from publicly available technical signals.
